Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #11

Monday, bloody Monday! Hehe, when I was little my favorite cartoon strip was Garfield. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my strong dislike for Mondays, but then again, who loves Mondays? Anyhoozles, this here is my outfit from that wretched day.
Mocha Sequined Shoulders Tee - Tees 2 Please via Thrifting; Peach & Green Floral Skirt - Old Navy; Bronze Peep Toe Platforms - Isabel Toledo via Payless
So this is the first time I believe that I have worn this tee without any layers. I've mentioned it before, it's a little too plain for me. But, that's nothing that a little accessorizing can't fix, right? After all, what are accessories for if they can't help turn something a little blah into something a little bling! Ok, that sounds a bit corny maybe. But it's true!  All of the colors in the outfit originate from the skirt, starting with the tee & shoes, to the lime green flower pin & peachy pink vintage faux pearl necklace & the white flower ring. What can I say? I just love color coordinating.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #10

Oh wow. It's only Tuesday and I'm exhausted! Can I tell you guys how much I am already looking forward to this weekend? Actually, I'm not sure I can put to words just how excited I am. Not because I have anything planned for this holiday weekend. Nope, just so I can sleep however long I want to. I'm taking Friday off to make it a nice looooooong weekend. Just two more days to go...
Purple Lace Cami - Xhiliration via Target; White Oversized Cardi - Mossimo via Target; Pink Abstract Floral Skirt - Old Navy; Purple Sling Back Espadrilles - Zac & Zoe via Payless
Here we are, speaking of Friday, with last Friday's outfit. Outfit #10 is the challenge! 1/3 of the way down, 2/3 to go. So far, most outfits have put themselves together pretty easily. I've only had maybe 3 days out of 10 where I stood in front of my closet pondering what to pair with each other. This combo I am very pleased with. All the times I've worn this cardi and this is the first time I've ever tied it up in front. I have one just like it in blue and recently wore it like that for the first time and realized that I have been missing out on some outfit potential! Oh well, as they say it's never too late. Now that I know I will definitely be putting this technique to use whenever needed.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #9

Good afternoon y'all! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was used for catching up on some much needed rest and finally taking a dip in the pool! After covering for the boss last week, by Friday I was completely spent. I wanted to blog this outfit sooner, but I barely touched the computer all weekend.

White Crocheted Tank - August Silk via Ross; Navy Mixed Geometric Patterned Skirt - George via Thrifting; Nude Peep Toes - Guess via DSW
This was my outfit from last Thursday. I've had this tank in my closet for a while, but really haven't worn it to the office. It's a great weekend top to go with some short and sandals, but beyond that I haven't really challenged myself with how to style it. It's got a slight fit to the hemline, though it's not elasticized, which makes it a little difficult to pair with most of my skirts. Usually when I pair a top like this that it fitted at the waist with a skirt, the fabric between the waist of the skirt and the hem of the shirt bulks up and the result is not visually appealing. However in this case, the bulking fabric was kept to a minimum so it wasn't too bad.

One thing I've realized during the challenge thus far - I would really love to find a cute pair of peach shoes.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #8

How is everyone doing tonight? Now, I know you can make some more noise than that, I wanna hear you scream! How is everyone doing tonight?! Oh, hi...sorry! I was getting a little carried away there I guess, daydreaming about being a rock star. You know, because my parents are musicians, ever since I was little I've secretly really wanted to be a rock star. So it makes sense that sometimes I like to channel that into my outfits.
Grey & Navy Striped Faux Wrap Dress - Merona via Target; Silver Sequined Tank - Xhiliration via Target; Navy & Peach Floral Mary Janes
Sorry if I blinded you there... ;)

Yesterday I went a little rocker glam, with the sequined tank, multiple rings, satiny platforms and guitar pick earrings. I love this dress because it is just so versatile. And comfy. It's jersey so it feels like I'm wearing pajamas almost. I actually have to admit that I got some inspiration for wearing my rings like that from Jerseylicious. A guilty indulgence I must admit, I endlessly enjoy that show. And Olivia and Tracy are always wearing these huge cocktail rings grouped together. I don't have too many huge rings, but I do have plenty mid-sized cocktails rings. I like the grouping of silver rings here. I'll have to do some more experimenting with the rings.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #7

You guys. I did something a little crazy. I'm doing the 30 for 30 Challenge, right? So that means my wardrobe is already more than cut in half. Well I guess I was feeling a little gutsy. Or maybe just a little conscious of the fact that some of my 30 items really need to be laundered. So yeah, me being me I didn't have enough time before the challenge to do laundry. No, I had to do it during the challenge, just to make it even more challenging. You see, I do not put my clothing in the dryer. Rather I hang dry my clothes. Which does in fact pose a challenge when working with a smaller wardrobe than normal. I think I'll be good though. I washed the peaches, purples and pinks together so that still leaves me with the teals, blues and neutrals, so it's definitely still workable. Plus hopefully by today or tomorrow my clothes should be dry and I'll be back to all 30 items. That is until I decide to do wash next week! ;)
Teal Butterfly Tee - Stranded via Target; White Oversized Cardi - Mossimo via Target; Mocha & Teal Floral Skirt - Love Potion via Ross; White Gladiator Sandals - Dexter via Payless
As if I never knew the tee-skirt combo was a summertime staple of mine, it has become plainly obvious during this challenge. But I like that I can't still mix it up so that every outfit doesn't appear the same. With this outfit I just decided to throw the oversized cardi on top to add some layering and keep with the white theme. I was thinking of going another way with this outfit because I wanted to wear heels, but realized I had to photograph a house, so flats were really my best option.

Also, I had to buy a camera last minute because of the aforementioned house photo shoot. With my lens being broken, I've been using my bosses camera. But with him out of town and his camera with him, I was in a crunch! Since I've been wanting to get a new point-and-shoot I decided to go with that, so I can shop around for a better price on a replacement lens. Even with the new camera, I forgot to do a shoe shot! I've gotten out of the habit, so I will just have to actively remember to get back into it.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #6

Hello there! Happy Tuesday! Ok, maybe I'm feigning just a little bit of excitement there about it being Tuesday. My boss is on vacation this week and I'm taking care of everything in the meantime. Yesterday actually wasn't too bad. But today seemed like it took forever! At least tomorrow is Wednesday, middle of the week, hump day!
Peach Crocheted Bib Tee - Carolyn Taylor via Ross; Peach & Green Floral Skirt - Old Navy; Crystal & Gold Sandals - Liliana via Tree Fashions
So this outfit basically just put itself together. I was thinking of wearing my pair of bronze peep toes but my feet were still greasy from the lotion I put on after my foot bath the night before that I almost twisted my ankle in my bedroom. The universe's way of telling me I should wear flats? Yeah, probably. So I did. Since this outfit is pretty simple and since I'll be repeating items for this challenge, I decided to mix things up by wearing some pigtails. When I was little, I used to wear pigtails all the time. I know some people think it's best to leave a hairstyle like that in your childhood, but I disagree. What's your stance on pigtails?

Have A Stylish Day - How to Treat Your Feet

I don't get to do it as often as I should but every once in a while I treat my feet to a nice and looooooong foot bath. As much as I wear heels, I know I need to take care of my feet and let them truly relax whenever I can. Of course, if I could afford it, I would just go to the salon and get a pedicure regularly. Usually though, I'll get a pedicure once at the beginning of Summer and once near the end. The rest of the time it's up to me to keep my feet looking presentable.

This is my goody bag of pedicure tools. One Christmas, I lucked out big time and scored a foot bath, foot sander, mani/pedi motorized tool kit and even a facial steamer. It was definitely an awesome Christmas. Even with all of my cool tools, I can't quite seem to match the quality of the work that I receive when I go to the salon. At least I try. As long as I don't butcher or mangle my toenails & cuticles too much, I'm good. Last night I watched a movie and had my feet soaking the whole time. It felt amazing.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #5

Ok you guys, I'm not going to lie. I'm only on outfit #5 and I've already cheated! Friday I had this outfit in mind from some brainstorming and was pleased with the execution (although I wish it photographed better!). But I wanted heels! I have chosen some heels for the challenge, but I wasn't feeling any of them. And I just didn't want to settle for sandals even though I knew I probably should.
Light Pink Ribbed Tank - Mossimo Supply Co.; Black Lace Ruffled Tank - Xhiliration; Black Floral Ruffled Skirt - Old Navy; Suede Bow Peep Toes - Mix No.6 via DSW; Black Braided Gladiator Sandals - Mossimo Supply Co. via Target

Well, the shoe gods must not have been happy with me breaking the 30 piece limit I promised myself I'd adhere to, because halfway through the day my feet were killing me. Some days I sit at my desk all day and only get up for a few breaks. But Friday was a busy walking day for me apparently. So on a break at work I ran by my house and switched the heels for a pair of black sandals that is on my 30 items list. Then I kicked myself for cheating because the sandals actually look good with the outfit. Ha, go figure.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #4

On Thursday, yet again I found myself running late for work (what can I say? I really hate leaving my bed.) and was rushing around getting ready. In no time flat I pulled this skirt and top together and finished it off with the wedges and a few accessories. I'll admit that I've probably worn the top and skirt together before but I haven't blogged it, so it's been a while.
Magenta & Purple Tribal Print Blouse - Unity via JCPenney; Mocha Tiered Skirt - Old Navy; Brown T-Strap Cork Wedges - Montego Bay Club via Payless
As I mentioned, I went bowling at a company event Thursday evening. It was a lot of fun! I did wear this outfit and I made sure to find matching magenta socks too. Because as much as my team sucked, at least I still looked cute. The organizer of the event came over to us afterwards and joked that if we were playing gold our team would have won. Womp womp. Oh well, we had fun and that's what counts! :)

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #3

So, here we are on Outfit #3 for the 30 for 30 Challenge, and I can't help but feeling as if I'm on a roll! If I thought getting dressed was quick on Tuesday, yesterday proved to be a cinch. As I mentioned, as soon as I had all of my pieces grouped together in the closet, I started envisioning possible outfit combos and this was one of them. Surprisingly, I would have never thought to layer this tee beneath the dress. But I'm glad I did!
Plum Empire Waist Dress - Forever via Ross; Mocha Sequined Shoulder Tee - Tees 2 Please via Thrifted; Bronze Peep Toe Platforms - Isabel Toledo via Payless
The dress is one of my favorites. It's been worn and washed to the point where it's lifetime is looking shorter and shorter. But I will not give up on it yet! The tee, however, is one of those pieces that I chose because I don't wear it as much. It was one of my thrifting finds back in February. I was drawn to it because of the sequined shoulders, but aside from that the top is pretty basic. And I sometimes have a hard time with basic. But as basic as this outfit is, no prints or patterns and only two color tones, I was totally digging it. Not to mention the dress is one of the most comfortable dresses I own, so I felt so comfy all day.

Now I'm off to a company bowling event. Hmm Realtors & bowling, let's see how this goes! Hehe actually, I'm looking forward to it because some of the most unsuspecting Realtors in my office really know how to cut loose and have fun. So take that stuffy Realtor stereotypes!

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #2

Yesterday morning I slept in later than I should have. Which meant I had little time to get ready. Usually at that point, I'm already doomed. When I have less time to get dressed than usual, I tend to take longer. I think it's some law of physics but I didn't pay enough attention in that class to remember. Buuuut, with the challenge limiting my choices to a much smaller portion of my wardrobe, it takes less time to pick an outfit.
Peach Crocheted Bib Tee - Carolyn Taylor via Ross; Navy Geometric Print Skirt - George via Walmart; Navy & Peach Floral Print Mary Janes - Shoedazzle; Pale Pink Lace Scarf - DSW; Coral Printed Silk Scarf - Thrifted
Yesterday I was able to get out of the door on time. Because I didn't have to spend as much time deciding on clothing, I was able to spend more time thinking about accessories. I felt that with the top and skirt alone the outfit was too plain. While I believe I had already paired the top with the skirt before, the double scarves as a belt was a new combo. I'm pleased with the results as it adds some visual interest and defines my waist to give the silhouette a nice clean line.

On a side note, as you might have noticed I haven't posted close-up shoe shots of recent outfits. First it was because when I first moved, I was just too lazy. But then my camera lens broke. :( So recently, I've been using my long-range lens, which luckily works for the outfit shots but unfortunately does not work for close-up shoe shots. Hopefully I will be able to buy a replacement lens soon, but until then that's why there's no lovely shoe shots.

Have A 30 for 30 Challenge Day #1

Have I mentioned how excited I am to be doing the 30 for 30 Challenge? I got all of my pieces picked out this weekend and was pretty surprised at how easily it was done. My strategy was to pick some pieces that I love to wear and other pieces that I just don't wear as often for whatever reasons. As soon as I had all of the hangers grouped together in my closet, my mind instantly started creating combinations. Of course, not every idea may pan out, but I'm certainly up for the challenge!

Pale Pink Bow Tee - Merona via Target; Olive Floral Burn Blouse - Apt 9 via Kohl's; Pink Abstract Floral Skirt - Old Navy; Purple Sling Back Espadrilles - Zac & Zoe via Payless
I must say already I am very pleased. Starting right off the bat, I picked an outfit that I was comfortable in and very pleased with, yet if it weren't for the challenge I may not have thought to combine all of these pieces together. For starters, the pink bow tee may go with the skirt color wise, but the fit is a bit too tight to wear on top of such a full skirt alone. And I'm not sure if it would have ever otherwise occurred to me to pair the olive top with such a bright and colorful printed skirt. But together it all works!

I'm Baaaaack!

Hello chickadees, I know it's been awhile but I am back! I'm moved and starting to get settled, life is starting to return to normal and I can finally get back into the swing of things with this blog here. Now I'm not going to start off with a sputter either. I've been busy with my time off taking outfit photos and now I've organized them nice and neat for you to take a look-see. :D

Also, I'm very happy to announce that I'm participating in Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 Challenge! I've been wanting to do the challenge since I heard about it last year, so I am very excited to finally get to do it. I started the challenge today and will continue it until I've done 30 outfits. I doubt any of my 30 outfits will pop up on the weekends, but we'll see. As far as the no shopping, since I've pretty much been abstaining from that already since we've moved, it's not likely I'll be going on any sprees anytime soon. Though I have been dying to go check out the thrift stores, so I may buy just a few things. I'm going to work on a list of my 30 items, so that'll be up in the next few days. Tomorrow I'll be back with my first outfit from the challenge! See you then. :)
