Have A Chasing the Sunlight Day

Can we all say a collective TGIF? I know I'm not the only one who's happy that it's the weekend! Not like I'll be doing anything really worthy of saving for the weekend. I'll just be working, studying and going to some orientation. But all that matters is that it won't be a day of the week from Monday-Friday. :)

Lately, I've been taking my photos after class since that's about the only time I get out of the office. On Wednesday, I only have one class and it's not until 5. I get out of class at 6:15. Usually that leaves me with plenty of time to take my photos. On this particular evening, I went to the campus bookstore after class and by the time I got to my car, the sun was already starting to dip (ok maybe it also has to do with the fact that the days are getting shorter again). I decided to push my luck, instead of just taking some shots in the garage. I drove past one of my favorite parks, but with the trees blocking what little sunlight was left, I wasn't feeling it. Then I thought about going to my office parking lot (exciting scenery, I know) because its a wide open surface that catches some of the very last bits of light from the setting sun. Plus it's on my way home from school. By the time I got there, the sun was no longer visible but there was still some light. And then just as I was about to get my shots in, someone who works in my building had the nerve to strike up a conversation with me. Lol not to sound antisocial or snobby, but I was in no mood! Oh well, all it took was a few short minutes of speech and then the sky was dark and I was left with no sunlight. At least my office parking lot also has good enough lighting.

This outfit was one of those kinds of outfits that I wasn't initially sure about when I put it on but as the day progressed, I began to really like it. At first I didn't think the shirt and skirt would go so well together, but luckily, now I know they actually do.

Have A Back on Track Day

Hello lovely people! Remember me? I wouldn't blame you if you don't. I've been more than just a little scarce lately. Trust me, your not the only ones I've neglected. I know my mom has been missing me and I've got a friend that I've been meaning to call since school started... I'm trying to get back on track now though. For the past few weeks, I've been painstakingly hand sewing a hat for my clothing construction class. While I'm incredibly pleased to be finished, the road to completion was not an easy one and it seemed to take some sort of mental strangle hold on me. Now that I am finished, I feel like my head has cleared! And I am once again ready to commit myself to blogging, so fear not my pretties. :)
Olive Ribbed Tank - Old Navy; Teal Crocheted & Cropped Cardi - Old Navy; Green & Blue Paisley Skirt - Thrifted; Olive Wedge Booties - Old Navy
So to get back on track, I'm just going to dive right in and start with yesterday's outfit! I'll work on compiling all of the outfits from the past few weeks, so I'll keep you posted. But on to yesterday, which by the looks of it was an Old Navy day for sure. Hehe, I swear these things go unplanned. It just so happens that Old Navy has a very signature color scheme so their pieces from different seasons always seem to go so well together. It's been wet and humid here, which has been making getting dressed a bit unpleasant. I'm in a mood for Fall and layering, but with the humidity it's difficult to pull off layers (or keep them on really! Yar har, I crack myself up). Sure, indoors it works, but the instant I walk outside I'm feeling stifled and just plain uncomfortable. This is a layered look that does work however. I love how the olive green is the common denominator throughout the ensemble, but the skirt is so vibrant so the olive doesn't overwhelm the look.

Happy hump day!

I'm Still Here...

I know! I'm so neglectful...but really I am still here. My apologies for not posting sooner. I've been dealing with a myriad of issues here from losing internet service to trying to handle my new work (and stress) load. I'm adjusting, just not as quickly as I wish I could. Now that my internet is back up and running though, I promise I will get a post up very soon. Since I've got plenty of outfits to show you, I'm thinking a two-part outfit mashup might be appropriate. We have lots to catch up on!

By the way, by no means am I trying to say that I am not enjoying my classes. I am actually quite happy with the teachers as well as the course materials. It's just the running back and forth that has really got me going crazy. Some days I have two classes, but since they're not back-to-back, I go to work in between and some days I go to work, go to school, go back to work and then go back to school. It almost makes me dizzy just thinking about it! But really, I couldn't be happier going to school; unless I could go full-time without having to to work a job. I can dream right?

So anyway, I will see you soon! :)

Have A Not Ready to Let Go Day

This week the temps have been lovely. It's been warm but the humidity levels have been low, and it's chilly in the morning and evenings. I love it! But it also makes me sad, because  I think of what is on the horizon...colder air. I'm not quite ready to let go of Summer, after all, this is my favorite part of the season weather wise!

Peach Tank - Old Navy; White Shrug - Dots; Pink Abstract Floral Skirt - Old Navy; Grey Suede Mary Janes - Merona via Target

I realized how much my outfit from Tuesday felt like very Autumnal with the browns and reds. So I felt like counterbalancing that with a more Summery outfit on Wednesday, with bright pinks, purples & oranges. I think the grey mary janes keep the outfit from feeling out of place at this time of year.

Have A Things Come Together Day

Monday I was a little disappointed. Being back in school (and out of the office for a least a few hours each day) meant that I could start taking photos outside again! But I forgot my tripod on Monday. So Tuesday I was excited because I remembered the tripod and was loving my outfit! Then I went to the park near school and found this excellent spot for pics and was beyond pleased with the shots I got.

Brown & Red Dress - BaileyGirl via JCPenney; Brown Lace Cami - Worthington via JCPenney; Leopard Print Wedges - Brash via Payless; Lace Shawl - Frenchi, Gifted
I purchased this dress online right before leaving for vacation. I knew I was going to love it when I saw it online and it did not let me down. Then as, I mentioned, this past weekend we went to the mall and I got a couple new pairs of shoes. At the time that I bought these leopard print wedges with red bows, I wasn't even thinking of the dress. Then, when I got home, I realized they were the perfect compliment to my new dress. Next, I wanted something to layer over the dress, or at least to cover my shoulders (and my layers of straps). This lace shawl was perfect! To keep it on without having to fuss about it all day, I simply tied it behind my back. Voila! Things do come together, this outfit & the photos are a great example. I also had a schedule issue Tuesday that I had to figure out. I had somehow been allowed to sign up for two classes that are not allowed to be taken together, they must be taken in succession instead. Luckily I was able to see my advisor and my schedule came together yet again! :)

Look At My Nails! - Blue & Green Polka Dots

So I painted my nails Sunday, took the photos Monday and am finally getting to post this on Thursday! Thanks for bearing with me, you lovely people, you, while I get used to my new schedule!
China Glaze - Sexy in the City (Blue); Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear - Going Green; Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen - Black
So as always, I ended up starting the whole nail process late in the evening. I didn't want to do some complicated design that would take me forever to perfect. But I didn't want just plain nails because the next day was the first day of classes after all, and my nails had to show off my personality. I finally decided on these two colors with some polka dot action on top. I added the black polka dots to create some contrast. I was very pleased with the results and slightly surprised that the black polka dots on my right hand actually looked neater than the ones on my left hand. I'm right handed, so it's usually the right hand that suffers in my nail designs! I'm very pleased with how these turned out and the best part is they haven't chipped once. There's just some slight wear on the edge of my nails, but that's to be expected.
