Have A Striped Sock Day

I admit, I was a little frustrated Thursday morning as I was trying to get dressed. I was, of course, running on tight time. I thought I knew what I was going to wear - a brand new jumper from Target. I had just bought it the day before. I'm not the type of person who can sit on new purchases easily; I simply must wear them right away (if the weather agrees)! Unfortunately, as I was putting the jumper on, a button came off! Pshaw, I am tired of poorly made clothing. I realize that at the price point I'm shopping at, I will have to sacrifice on the quality a little. But seriously, I've had countless new garments that have lost buttons, the seam finishes have started to unravel and so on. Oi, I know that's nothing new nor will it change anytime soon, it's just a major annoyance. That's why I felt so compelled to take a sewing class. At least  I will learn the skills it takes to either fix this poor workmanship or skirt it altogether by making my own pieces!

Tunic - Boutique in OBX; Black Camisole - JCPenney; Leggings with Button Detail - Target; Gold Ruffle Flats - Old Navy
So as frustrated as I was that my initial pick would not work, I knew I had this much to consider - it must be dark (we were working with charcoal in drawing class), it must be warm (or so I thought, the morning was chilly but the day warmed up quite a bit...luckily not too much though) and it must work with flats. This tunic seemed to fit the bill, plus it was in fact a purchase I had been sitting on. I bought it down at the beach, from a store that I cannot remember the name of. I had yet to wear it since the weather has only just started to change to cooler temps.

I paired the silky tunic with some black leggings. Now leggings have been leaving me with a huge challenge when it comes to addressing how to cover my feet. I have lots of brightly colored and patterned socks, not many plain black or brown ones to blend in with the look of the leggings. So I decided, if I can't blend, contrast! I love my gray and black striped socks and I think they look cool/funky with the tunic. Funny story, while we were taking a break, a guy in my drawing class came up to me and put his foot next to mine to reveal that he was wearing matching socks! Lol, I thought that was great. :)

Anyway, I finished off the look with gold flats and some gold accessories. I wore one of my favorite headbands - it's black with a bow made from a gold zipper, edged with black fabric. One of these days I'm going to have to do a showcase post on my accessories since it's usually hard to see them in full detail in my outfit photos.

P.S. Sorry there is no outfit for Wednesday....turns out Tuesday was just a precursor to how shitty Wednesday would be...oh well. I survived! :)
